That is nearly double the industry standard and makes the MG4 one of the best-protected budget EVs on the market. Chery and Geely both offer unlimited kilometre coverage on their batteries, a genuine advantage for high-km novated lease drivers. Kia’s 7-year term is the shortest in this table, and its 150,000 km cap is the tightest.

What “70% Capacity” Actually Means

Every warranty in the table above promises at least 70 per cent of original usable capacity at the end of the warranty period. But what does 70 per cent feel like in practice?

Take a BYD Atto 3 with a 60.48 kWh pack and a claimed range of 420 km. At 70 per cent capacity, you would have about 42.3 kWh usable, translating to roughly 294 km of WLTP range. On the highway at 110 km/h, real-world range would sit closer to 220 to 250 km (using the standard 75 to 85 per cent WLTP adjustment for Australian highway conditions).
